OK Bar

Ok Bar is located on the Via de Servi on the north side of Florence. It was one of the first places my friends and I ate at in the city, and ultimately, we ate here multiple times. Whenever we would eat at Ok Bar, we just kinda’ sauntered in there. If it was late and we needed somewhere to eat, we’d go to Ok Bar. If we were lazy and didn’t want to walk a 20 minutes for a restaurant, we’d go to Ok Bar. I’ll tell you what, every time we ate here, we were satisfied. The food is good, the service is reliable and the prices are fair.

On to the food…

In terms of appetizers, I got the “Fettunta con I Pomodorini Freschi e Basilico” which is a Tuscan grilled bread with fresh tomatoes and balsamic. It was a good appetizer, and the tomatoes and balsamic went well together. For some reason I always ordered this here, but it was not a stand out on the menu.

On to the primi piatti. There were 2 pastas I’ve had here. One was the carbonara. The carbonara here is good. There are thick slices of guanciale on it, and the carbonara sauce had great texture and taste. This dish is solid and satisfying.

But, my go-to pasta here was the “Tagliatelle al Salmone Affumicato” . . .  which is tagliatelle pasta with smoked salmon. They say that pasta and seafood should not be mixed in Italy, and I did not see pastas with seafood offered on many menus. However, this was a really good pasta dish. The salmon was delicious, and there was a light cream sauce to complement it. The tagliatelle was soft and fresh. I always put parmesan on this pasta for some extra flavor. This is one of the one dish I will always remember from OK Bar and Florence. 

Takeaways: OK Bar was always a reliable choice for us. We always had a solid dining experience here. The service is good, except one time a waiter tried pushing the meat plate appetizer on us, even after saying “no thank you” 3-4 times. There are so many amazing places to eat in Florence before you try OK Bar, but this restaurant never let us down, which is why I will always remember this place.
